2016 World Fellow Frank Rusa will discuss, “Is Democracy support working in Africa? – A look at the contribution of development cooperation to the democratization process in Uganda.”

In the 2000s, there has been increased funding for NGOs involved in good governance initiatives in Uganda and other African countries. The modalities governing how this support is provided including the procedures of choosing its recipients has far reaching impact on the overall utility of this support in as far as democratization is concerned.

In this discussion the speaker will highlight some of the successes achieved as well as the challenges and limitations encountered in effective delivery of democracy programs by donors.
